Facet Joint Injections
Facet joins are small stabilizing joints located between and behind adjacent vertebrae or spinal bones in the back. Inflamed or irritated facet joints can be a source of back pain. Facet joint injections can serve a dual purpose: pinpointing the source of a patient’s pain and also relieving pain and inflammation. Under the guidance of a fluoroscope, the physician uses contrast dye to insure proper placement of the needle and injects a soothing mixture of numbing anesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication.
